Naturalist Journal: Down The Nature Trail
http://downthenaturetrail.blogspot.com/
Words are powerful. John Muir preserved an entire mountain range, the High Sierras, because of his journal writing. He recorded his awe of the natural beauty of the mountains translating this feeling to the Congress of the United States. Through his efforts the High Sierras became a national monument. Read more about Judy’s love of nature and see photography and drawings from her Nature Journals.

In my opinion there are no cooler people than my family--when it comes to being artistic and just sheer fun!

This is the "Spousal Unit"--we use this endearing term that we stole from the movie the Cone Heads. Actually there is a lot of similarity between our family and these alien visitors from another planet. Lewis aspired to be a great golf player and at some point tossed his clubs into a small lake near Lafayette, Tennessee; Lew and Judy consume massive quantities of food because Lew is a great Earthling cook; however, Lew's track record with repairing electronic devises is not quite as good at the Conehead Dad--I believe only yesterday he had an encounter with a new gadget that was supposed to make putting that always overflowing bowl of pennies in nickels deposited daily from his pockets into those impossible little round tubes. This was another one of his mail-order wonders that did not work exactly like the ad in the advertisement promised. I noticed this new devise in the recycling bin for misused plastic. Lew loves to write stories about his impressionable days growing up in Carthage, Tennessee. I want to share some of these delightful stories with you. He also takes a notion time and again to paint--no, not the house--enjoy his artwork, too

My daughter, Kelly Kerrigan, is a professional artist and I am very proud of her. She is so often the inspiration for perusing my art. Often the stress of deadlines and pressures of owning my own business squeeze out the time to draw and reflect. It is through her encouragement and our conversations about the importance of artistic expression that motivates me to make the time to sketch and paint.

Paul Kerrigan, the web designer for both of my websites, is also the musician for the music on the introduction to judybutler.com. Paul is another creative and talented member of our family who gives me the support that inspires my confidence and nudges me to do my best.
